One of the easiest ways to accomplish this is in meetings. If you conduct a weekly staff meeting, start out the with something positive-it can be professional or personal i.e. "we just landed a new account, John's son made Eagle Scout, Marshall is a new grandfather". And finish the meeting on a positive note too. What have you got to lose by trying this approach? The results may surprise you.
